Joseph P. Dibernardo, Lt. Curt Meyran, and Firefighter Rick Sclafani who both made the ultimate sacrifice in 2 separate fires on the same day, January 23, 2005, in New York. This day, deemed Black Sunday by the local media, was one of the deadliest days in FDNY history. A nor’easter storm was hitting the area when a fire broke out that morning in the Bronx. Responding companies were met with multiple obstacles that day.
